Mama’s 2010 Bloggy Goals

by mamalaundry on January 4, 2010

2010-calendar

I seem to have goals coming out of my ears!   In fact, my husband said the other night, “Gosh, you look like someone who’s trying to be successful or something!”

I’ll take that as a compliment.

So after making some ambitious personal goals, I settled on some rather ambitious blogging goals also.  There’s a great link-up over at Savvy Blogging if you need a little inspiration.

Wait, did I mention I am going to Blissdom?  I have no doubt that I’ll have a much better idea of how to accomplish these goals after that fabulous little get-away.

Here are a few of mine:

  • Create a schedule for my day and stick to it. My little people and I have a great daily routine, but I’m feeling the need to follow something a little more scheduled.  I see that I must actually schedule time to write posts and do general blog tasks.  Otherwise it’s not going to happen!

Action Step: I am researching a couple of calendar programs: Motivated Moms and  Grace Works.  If you have any more suggestions, I’m all ears!

  • Find someone to design a great looking website for me at a reasonable cost.

Action Step: I am going to obtain quotes from 3 different designers by the end of January.  I plan to have a new blog design by mid-February.

  • Switch over to a .org WordPress blog by Mid-February.

Action Step: This goes along with the bullet above.

  • Write 3 in-depth, excellent quality posts per week. The other days of the week will be detergent deals, laundry tips, link round-ups, etc.

Action Step: By January 15th, I will have all of my content planned for January and February.  Again, I see that I have to plan these things in order for them to happen!

  • Have 150 daily readers by the end of July 2010. Is this realistic?  I don’t understand how people estimate how many readers they can add in a specific time period.

Action Steps: Twitter, create a FaceBook page, continue to roll out good quality content on a daily basis.

  • Guest blog on 5 different blogs this year.

Action Steps: Thankfully, I’m already a step ahead with this one!  I’ll be guest posting at 3 Boys & a Dog in mid-January on how to make your laundry room more efficient and organized. (Thanks again, Kelli!)

  • Place 8 blogs in my reader that I faithfully read and comment on most days of the week.

Action Step: I’ll narrow down my reader to 8 blogs by the end of the week.  I’m only giving myself 30 minutes or less each day to read and comment, so I’ve got to be efficient and not get side-tracked!

  • Find a comprehensive list of memes and see which ones fall best in my niche.  Then commit to posting to those most weeks.

Action Step: I will find and evaluate the list of memes by the end of this week.  When scheduling my posts, I’ll make sure these are added in.

  • Most important: Not let this blog take over my daily life.

Action Step: I’ll readily admit I am going to have to work the hardest on this one!  But it is by far the most important.  Next to God, my top priorities are my husband and children.  I want to continue to give them my 110% every day.

I am still just a baby blogger – only 5 weeks old!  So my blogging goals may or may not be very close to the mark.  Thankfully, I can re-evaluate them frequently and see what is working and what is not.

I’m always open to constructive criticism.  If you have any suggestions, feel free to leave a comment!

I’m pleased to link this post to the Savvy Blogging 2010 Goal Link-up.  Head on over and glean some wisdom from a fabulous set of ladies.

Hey Tracey! Thanks so much for clicking over! Nice to meet you too. :)

Hi Mandi! About the action plan…I am apparently a person that needs a specific to-do list written out every single day. Otherwise nothing gets done!

(I’m blaming it on sleep deprivation! Ha!)

So hopefully the action steps are like my little to-do list. And it thrills me when I can scratch off all of my completed tasks. Super dorky, I am aware. :)

I like the idea of narrowing down the memes to focus on…definitely something I need to do. You have great goals and welcome to the world of blogging =)

Melissa, once I find a comprehensive list (or put one together on my own), I’ll email it to you if you’d like. Or maybe I should write a post on it. Hmmmm.

Thank you for the welcome!

Hi, I just found your site through Savvy Bloggers. It is fascinating. I definitely need advice regarding laundry. It’s one of those things that feels like a constant losing battle to me. Thanks for viewing it positively!

mamalaundry January 7, 2010 at 3:15 pm

Nony, I am thrilled you stopped by. Truly, the reason I started blogging was for people who see laundry as “the constant losing battle”.

I’m so sorry that you do! Please stop by often – I’m working hard at getting lots of content up. The ‘How to Fold’ Series is currently going on (so clothes will actually fit in dresser drawers!). And in the coming weeks I am going to talk about organizing your laundry room so it’s functional, what a weekly laundry schedule can look like, how to do real stain removal so clothes aren’t ruined, and lots of other good ideas swimming around in my head!

Thanks so much for stopping by! If you have specific laundry issues, lay ‘em on me. I’ll be happy to help!

-Lauren
