There are so many ways to save money on laundry. You can use coupons or shop sales or make your own detergents and laundry products.
You are in luck if you are a person that likes to make your own products. I have a whole round-up of links from dryer sheets to wrinkle releaser!
If you have a homemade laundry product, feel free to leave the link in the comments.
Homemade Wrinkle Releaser – In case you like to avoid ironing at all costs
- The Common Cents Home – Uses only softener
- Homemade Mamas – Uses softener and vinegar
Homemade Dryer Sheets
- Consumer Queen – She gives several options
- Appraiser’s Wife
- The Meanest Momma – Octagons. Now that’s funny.
- Penny Pinchin’ Mom – Love the idea of using ones that are brightly colored so you can spot them easily
Homemade Fabric Softener
- The Frugal Girls – Uses hair conditioner
- Homemade Ginger – Uses vinegar and essential oils
Homemade Fabric Refresher (Similar to Febreze)
- Pinky Has a Brain – Yes, that is her real name
Homemade Stain Remover Spray
- Keeping the Kingdom First – Scroll to the bottom of the post
- Keeper of the Home – She claims this got out her blackberry stains! Assuming that is true-this is a winner for sure. Blackberry stains are tough.
Homemade Oxi Clean

What a great resource! We are trying all kinds of homemade products, especially for the home to save money and be healthier and so this is a really fantastic post! I am excited to try these!
Thanks!!
Thanks for stopping by, Cassie!
If you end up trying any of these, I’d love to hear your results!

I use the same stain spray recipe as Keeper of the Home. It is THE BEST spray I’ve ever used. Sometimes, if I see something oil based and remember to do it in advance, I do still use my St@in Stick to pretreat – but this spray gets most of them out even if I forget to treat until just before tossing laundry into the wash.
I make my own laundry soap (recipe at: http://www.livingwiththreeboys.com/2010/07/freebie-friday-laundry-soap.html) but am excited about adding some of these other tools to my laundry toolbelt!
PS: the laundry recipe I use can be used on cloth diapers, just switch the Fels-Naptha with Palmolive Free and Clear dish soap. It even works in HE’s and frontlaoders.
Brit- Such good info about your recipe! Thanks for sharing the part about HE washers and using it with cloth dipes.
Super helpful! 😉
