Well, it seems we are on an underwear theme so I’ll continue our ‘How to Fold’ Series with Children’s Underwear.
I’m about to tell you a piece of life-changing advice:
There is no reason to fold children’s underwear. Period.
Just in case you are trying to fold those little 2T or 3T pairs of underwear, there is just no need to do it. They come unfolded so easily. And it is practically impossible for a 2 year old to carry her folded underwear to put away in her drawer without unfolding them.
And then all of your hard work is for naught.
So do yourself a favor and just stack them. They’ll still fit neatly in the drawer. In fact, it will be even neater in the drawer since they aren’t going to topple over.
So to ‘fold’ little people underwear, follow this method:
Place underwear flat on your folding table (or bed, etc) and smooth flat with your hands.
Stack each pair of underwear flat on top of each other and smooth again.
Then place the stack in the drawer.
And that’s it! Super simple and minimal effort. This definitely works for me.

I’m right with you on this one! I use this same “method.” Thanks for making me feel better about it. =)
That’s exactly what I do, too!
I do it exactly the same way. 🙂 Would drive me nuts trying to fold all the undies for many little ones.
Great advice. Would it be bad to admit that I don’t fold my two-year old’s clothes because he pulls them out of his drawers so quickly?
Ha! No – not bad at all!
I can totally relate.
Thankfully, this too shall pass. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
That is exactly how I “fold” my kids underwear too! That is why underwear is always one of the first things I teach my kids to fold. All they have to do is find them in the clean pile of clothes, and put them in a stack.
We don’t even fold children’s underwear. We have a plastic basket for underwear, one for socks and one for tights / leotards.
I’ve always folded my kids’ underwear (mine are currently age 7 and twins who are age 6). HOWEVER, I keep them stacked in empty shoeboxes within their dresser drawer. This holds them in place neatly and they don’t come unfolded! 🙂
Socks, on the other hand – we definitely use the ball method and the kids just have one shared sock drawer – they all wear roughly the same size anyway and seem to have a good idea of whose socks are whose. And if they accidentally wear someone else’s socks, they probably fit anyway and there are plenty to go around so who cares. 🙂
