As a Purex Insider, I have the opportunity to review product samples from the Purex line. And I was more than thrilled to use and review the new Purex Complete with Zout.
Purex Compete with Zout uses three types of enzymes to clean hard-to-remove stains, including protein-based stains, starchy stains and guar.
This review is based on my own usage and experience with this product. The opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine.
I used the entire bottle of detergent on our regular household laundry prior to writing this review in order to make an accurate assessment. Our ‘regular laundry’ includes a good amount of baby laundry (spit up, baby poop, etc) and general little kid laundry with lots of potential stains. And of course the normal laundry of towels, sheets, and adult clothing.
Quantity and Size: For review, I used a 32-load bottle which was the sample I received from Purex.
Ease of Use: Purex Complete with Zout has the traditional laundry cap bottle with the lines on the inside indicating the correct amount of detergent to use. The bottle wasn’t too heavy, so it was easy to handle. The lines inside the cap are a little hard to read. And it is extremely easy to overfill this cap since the ‘full’ line is in the middle of the cap, not at the top. It would be easy to just fill the whole cap and use too much detergent, thus wasting the product and your money.
Scent: I admittedly have not been a huge fan of the scent of some Purex products. They smelled to perfume-y for my family. However, I love the scent of the new Purex with Zout. It’s not overwhelming and leaves the laundry with just the slightest hint of clean. It is not a perfume-y/flower-y smell, but one that is more ‘clean.’ It’s totally refreshing!
Price: After digging around online, it looks like the average price of Purex Complete with Zout is priced at $4.99 for a 32-load bottle. This is extremely competitive with other name brand detergents of the same caliber.
Availability: The Purex website lists the current stores where Purex Complete with Zout is available: Walmart, Target, Kmart, and other national chains. And there are also several stores where we should see it shortly: Kroger (yippee!), Family Dollar and a few others.
Effectiveness: Purex Complete with Zout was very effective in removing the stains on our clothes. On our items that were horribly stained, I did use a scoop of a laundry whitener to ensure the stain was removed completely. This product was easily as effective, if not more effective than other name brand detergents.
Final Result:
I was extremely pleased with this product! I definitely see it as a front-runner in comparison to other name brand laundry detergents. I feel like our stains were adequately lessened and our clothes were cleaned effectively.
Would I Use this Product Again: Without a doubt! I really like Purex Complete with Zout and I felt like my clothes were cleaned well. It’s readily available nation-wide, and they have coupons. Win-win!

I have always loved Purex.
I sampled this detergent in the past, and I was very pleased with how well it cleaned as well as the price. I had been using Tide for a long time because it was what worked with our cloth diapers (don’t mess with what works), and I am willing to say that I thought the Purex with Zout did just as good of a job as the Tide in getting all of the stains out of little boy clothes, but I didn’t use it on the diapers. It was introduced to me as a pre-treatment and detergent in one bottle, and I did use it to pre-treat stains several times. It’s definitely a great value, in my opinion.
I’d love to give this a try since it’s HE friendly and available in a “free and clear”!
