I’m a mama to little people, which means I am constantly fighting the stain battle. Chocolate milk and anything tomato-based seems to be constant stain culprits in this house.
I love my stain removal soak since it has been so faithful in removing most stains and helping our clothes last longer. But what do I do with clothes during the ‘waiting period’ prior to The Soak?
Well I store them in my Stain Bucket, of course.
(The items are hanging over the edge because they are wet and I’m letting them dry before putting them in. I don’t want to have to deal with mildew and stains.)
Before I got my Laundry Life organized, the stained items that needed to be dealt with would lay on top of the washer or dryer, sit in the floor of the laundry room, hang out on top of my dresser, or perpetually stay in the bottom of the mesh laundry bags.
Needless to say, I was lacking a stain removal plan.
Then it dawned on me one day that this big 5-gallon bucket was taking up space in my laundry room floor, so I should at least put it to use!
Now when clothes are stained, I immediately deal with them. Then they go into the Stain Bucket until it is time for me to do The Soak.
The Stain Bucket has so many advantages: you know where all of the stained items are and don’t have to hunt them down and you can easily see how full the bucket is. When the bucket is close to full, it is time to do The Soak.
The Stain Bucket definitely works for me!

Great idea! Our “laundry closet” sits right in between the kitchen and living room- and we’re talking 500 sq feet of space for the whole eat-in kitchen/living room/entrance/back door/laundry closet. (Yep. Sometime we feel like the Genie from Aladdin….”itty bitty living space”!) So, maximizing the use of every space is necessary with our family of 5! Thanks for all the great ideas!!! Loving this blog!
You know, I can’t imagine I’ll EVER have a laundry management plan. : ) But a stain bucket and soak is so smart! And doable. Definitely doable. 🙂
What a smart idea with that stain bucket! I never thought of doing that at all, but I will definitely be trying it out soon.
