I spend many hours each week in my Laundry Room. I’ve never tallied how many hours I actually do spend…and I’m not really sure that I want to know!
Even though my laundry room is ultra small, I keep it fairly well-organized. In fact with a small laundry room, it seems organization is a must.
Having trouble getting motivated to organize your laundry room? Here are a few good reasons to get you moving!
1. An organized Laundry Room will allow easy access to the items you use the most.
Do you have little ones with lots of stains – or a hubby that is a stain producer? Then you probably use your stain remover and an old toothbrush several times a week. Or do you often use a mesh lingerie bag? I use mine probably every other day at least.
When I am finished with these items, I place them directly into my blue/white bins that you see in the picture. I can easily pull them off my shelf that is directly above my washer. Things that are accessible are used more often.
2. Being organized will save you time.
Think how your efficiency would increase if you easily knew where your most-needed tools were! Group like items with like: All laundry detergent bottles together with labels facing out, all dryer sheet boxes stacked neatly, all stain remover items housed in the same box, etc. My time is precious, as I’m sure yours is also. An organized Laundry Room helps you get in and out of there quickly!
3. Being organized will save money.
If you know exactly what is in your Laundry Room, you don’t have to spend extra money buying more. It does no good to buy in bulk with coupons if you can’t find the items you’ve bought! If you then have to buy your items at full-price without a coupon…well, then you’ve defeated the purpose of saving money and all of your hard work.
4. Being organized will save effort.
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired. A lot. I need a Laundry Room that is streamlined where I can find things without a lot of added ‘work.’ Having an organized room will save you the headache of trying to find things. It is so frustrating to know you have that bottle of Whink somewhere and exert lots of energy looking for it after you notice that huge rust stain.
So spend a couple of hours this week trying to get your Laundry Room in order. The payoffs are huge! When you have an efficient space to operate in, work seems to become a little easier.

This makes me wish I had a laundry room!
Hey Ali!
Do you have a laundry closet? Or do you wash your laundry outside of your home (laundromat, friend’s house, etc)?
If you have a laundry closet, I’m going to do a few posts on maximizing those spaces. I had a laundry closet for a couple of years and boy, you have to be deliberate in how you store things in there!
Thanks for leaving a comment 🙂
okay so you are my best friend in the whole world. I love that you give me simple steps! I can totally do this! I am going to draw up a plan and I know my MIL will be right behind me, we are going to take over the laundry room by storm. I will send pics! eventually;)
.-= Jana´s last blog ..I’m Back! =-.
It would thrill my soul if you sent me before and after pics of your laundry room! Or wrote a post on your blog so I could link to it!
